FibroScan®Advanced Liver Health Check: Non-Invasive FibroScan Screening to Assess Liver Stiffness and Fat for Comprehensive Insights
Early Detection is Key trust FibroScan® to catch liver disease – THE SILENT KILLER
Did you know that approximately 25% of adults over the age of 20 have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease? Left undiagnosed, this condition increases the risk of liver failure, liver cancer, and other health complications.
At RMEDY Health, we are ahead of the curve. That’s why we offer the FibroScan® – the best non-invasive screening tests for fatty liver and other liver conditions.
What is it?
A FibroScan® is a medical device that is used to assess liver fibrosis (scarring) and steatosis (fat in the liver). It works by measuring the stiffness of the liver using ultrasound based technology (and a technique called transient elastography).
Your healthcare provider will use your liver stiffness result and medical history to find out your fibrosis score. Your results can range from normal to advanced.
- Normal: This means your liver has no scarring, or mild scarring.
- Moderate and severe: This is liver scarring that can be reversed (undone) by treating your liver disease. Good nutrition and healthy lifestyle changes can also slow down or reverse the buildup of scarring in your liver. You may not have any symptoms of moderate liver scarring.
- Advanced: Cirrhosis (seh-ROH-sis) is a late form of advanced liver scarring. This happens over time in chronic (long-term) liver disease.
Who is it for?
A FibroScan® is beneficial for anyone with risk factors for liver disease, including:
- Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes
- High Cholesterol
- Being Overweight or Obese
- Metabolic Syndrome
- History of Viral Hepatitis (Hepatitis B or C)
- History of Excessive Alcohol Use
- Use of Certain Medications
Why should you get a Fibroscan?
The liver is one of the only organs that can regenerate itself if damaged but it can only perform this amazing feat if it is healthy to start with. Once cirrhosis sets in, the liver is beyond repair.
At RMEDY Executive Health we believe in preventative screening because many chronic liver diseases can be reversible if they are diagnosed in the early stages.
To Assess: Liver disease is commonly known as a silent killer. This is because symptoms are often non-specific and can be easily ignored in the early stages. As the disease advances, symptoms may include fatigue, bruising, swelling, skin rashes, and itching. However, many people with liver disease may not experience any symptoms until the damage has become severe and irreversible. This emphasizes the significance of early screening for the liver as a preventative measure.
To Detect: If you have risk factors for liver disease, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, history of heavy alcohol consumption, etc.; a FibroScan®can be used as a diagnostic tool to measure the liver’s stiffness, which helps to determine the severity and stage of disease. Detecting liver disease in its early stages enables your health care provider to determine an appropriate treatment plan to either monitor, reduce the possibility of, or even reverse liver disease.
To Monitor: If it is determined that you have a liver condition that requires either medical treatment or lifestyle changes, the FibroScan® can be used to monitor the effectiveness of those changes over time. This allows your healthcare provider to make necessary adjustments to your treatment plan to maximize your outcome.
To Avoid: Avoid a liver biopsy! A liver biopsy is an invasive surgical procedure that involves taking a sample of liver tissue for analysis. A FibroScan® can provide similar information without the need for a biopsy, making it a much safer and more comfortable alternative.

A Healthier, Happier You Review your results with a doctor
If your FibroScan results indicate that you have liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, your healthcare provider may refer you to a specialist, such as a gastroenterologist or hepatologist, for further evaluation and management. In some cases, a liver biopsy may be recommended to confirm the diagnosis and assess the severity of the liver disease.
It is important to follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and recommendations closely and to continue to monitor your liver function regularly if you have been diagnosed with liver fibrosis or cirrhosis. Making lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, avoiding alcohol and tobacco, and managing other health conditions can also help slow the progression of liver disease and improve your overall health.
